Beginning with one of Australias first gold rushes and home to Australias iconic Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme, Tumbarumba Shire is steeped in history.
- Visit one of three Snowy Hydro power stations, they offer interesting tours on the history of this national icon and its current operations.
- Take a look at the family life of pioneers at the renowned Pioneer Women’s Museum.
- Amazing horsemanship, sheep dogs, shearing and Australian humour are all part of the acclaimed Boggy Creek Show.
- Take a walk around Tumbarumba township and you will see buildings dating back to the 80s, 1880 that is.

New Year’s Day - Tumbarumba Rodeo: Thrills and spills and sideshow alley.
Last Weekend in February – Tumbafest: A two day celebration of music and local wine also featuring kids entertainment, music workshops, rides and craft stalls.
Last week in March – Tumbarumba Show: a showcase of rural produce, enterprise, creativity and ingenuity.
First weekend in April - Man from Snowy River Festival: Corryong hosts this two-day event, with competitors showing off everything from horsemanship to whip cracking.
Last weekend in April - Festival of the Falling Leaf: Enjoy Tumut’s biggest festival with street performers, music, food, wine, market stalls and kids entertainment under the autumn colours.
Mid June - Carcoola Art Show: Local and regional artists display their creations for the weekend and you can watch an artist at work.
First week of November - Heritage Week: a week to celebrate history with functions and activities culminating in a parade down the main street in Tumbarumba.
